Lansdowne, the base of the famous Garhwal Riflies, was founded by lord Lansdowne in 1887 A.D. This beautiful retreat was popular with the British who established the Garwhal Rifles cantonment here during the Raj. It is also one of the quaintest and nearest hill station from Delhi. Set in lush Deodar and Pine Forest, it is the treat for the soul.
The drive to Lansdowne will be the best drive of your life. The route goes through small hamlets and the thickly-forested country side roads. As the road goes uphill, watch the mist rise with you, out of nowhere. Pass by villages and feel in your bones the climate change. Stop at the village of Dugadda mid-way, walk across the swinging bridge, and promise yourself to pick up when returning, some pebbles from the bed of the invisible Rive Khoh
